Our first themed month of sculpting! SCULPTOBER!
This month, as the first to kick off the schedule, I decided to sculpt some classic monsters. so who better than Frankenstein’s Monster and Wife?!
The birth of Fancyfrank, which he later became known, started with this sketch. I really enjoyed the idea of the exaggerated and extremely masculine features.
From here I blocked out the basic shapes of his face and started to build in some real characteristics. Once he was all based out and ready to go, the fun began!
I had the pleasure of being joined by a stellar audience while we built Frank into something amazing. Along the way there were many suggestions and silly ideas. We ultimately settled on a few of them.
- Top hat
- Soul patch
I later swapped Top hat out for something more suited to a monster of his caliber. & screwed the soul patch.
You may ask, “what is more suited then?”
Well, as it turns out, I thought a mason jar lid was the better fit, rofl!
As I was creating this character, I felt like- with the ascott and monocle- he needed to be ‘old man Frank’. With that in mind, I kept perfecting the little details to make him into the crazy wild character in my head.
By the end, he grew into a gorgeous little minibust with a super fancy monocle and well weathered appearance. On to the next classic monster! We went with, his wife.
HOW ON EARTH AM I GOING TO BRING THIS SAME FEEL INTO HIS WIFE!?
Multiple sketches and brainstorming sessions later, I came to a solid idea.
FancyStein’s Wife – Deadre
This beautiful and well kept lady is his wife. A classic beauty from brow to breast- She has worked hard to maintain this appearance.
Progress will be updated as the project continues
